NEPAL VISA Information
From the tourism ministry and the visa section office here in Kathmandu.
EVERYONE can get a visa on arrival at the airport here in Kathmandu — (except 8 countries like Iraq, Cameroon, Nigeria etc…WHO are NOWHERE even near from where our SIGNIS participants come from).. South Asians — like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, PAKISTAN, Maldives or Bhutanese get their 30 day long VISAs for free (unless they have already visited Nepal after January 1st, 2011 and made use of this gratis/free visa for this year). Indians do not need visas (but pls bring your passport OR driving license with photo, Or ration card with photo, Or election commission card with photo or ID card with photo issued by Sub-divisional magistrate or by any other officials above this rank). INDIANS: DO NOT BRING INDIAN CURRENCY NOTES OTHER THAN 100 RUPEE DENOMINATIONS as 500 rupees notes are accepted ANYWHERE !! ALL Other countries: You will get multiple entry visas for 15 days you HAVE TO PAY 25 US dollars or equivalent in Nepali rupees.
If you want a 30 day visa you have to pay 40 US dollars.
To get visa on arrival: upon getting off the airplane at Kathmandu airport — you have to fill a VISA form and line up along the “VISA on ARRIVAL” que at the airport.
YOU WILL NEED at least ONE PASSPORT SIZED photo with you to process the visa at the airport.
OPTIONAL: BUT if you wish to obtain a VISA from a Nepalese embassy in your country beforehand you can do that at the same rates. Then if you have the visa already stamped in your passport — when you get off the airplane you only have to fill the “immigration form” and get a sticker stuck on your passport. END
